Photography hasn’t changed much over the years, it’s still just an art form of capturing light and moments in time with a camera as the tool. But the final forms of art and memories that can be created these days has changed from the past. Between creativity and technology, different forms of using photographs to create something has become more expansive and accessible.
With our own kids in plenty of activities and sports we enjoy capturing so much of that on camera to hold onto those memories. And along the way we tend to capture a little bit of everyone and everything, and enjoy sharing those memories with the rest of their teams (a little perk of being on the same team with one of our kids)! This season we thought we would find a new way to put all of these images to use beyond just sharing online or through the team apps, and something more tangible that our kids can enjoy too… Trading Cards! Some inspiration from childhood, and a recent interest in baseball cards with our son, we thought why not put our graphic design and photography skills to work and do something fun!

Using action photos from games and competitions, we have plenty of trading card worthy images to choose from. And with a short list of questions to help create some “Stats” for our players, we have created a fun trading card for the kids. The age our kids are at, football and baseball teams don’t exactly track how many hits, points, receptions they get. So we kept it a little more light-hearted and fun. Listing out favorite foods, colors, subjects in school… mixed with some genuine stats like height, weight, and favorite positions.

If you’re interested in something like this for your own kids or teams, these are fully customizable since we are creating these ourselves! If you need some professional photos to go along with it, we can obviously help with that too, we have quite a bit of experience photographing all sorts of sporting and performance events indoors or outdoors. But don’t worry, maybe you don’t need full photo coverage of a season or game, but you want some trading cards, you can provide the photos to be used and we can do the rest! Please just keep in mind we are using professional photography equipment, so there will be a difference in quality if you send us your phone pictures to use. But we will gladly use what you send us.

Our trading cards are designed and edited by me, and printed in-house on our printer. We even hand cut each card and package them up for you. We only use archival quality paper and inks, so these will last for many years to come. And although these are printed on photo paper, don’t let that fool you, we are using extra heavy card stock to replicate the feel of a true trading card.
Kids love them and feel like they are professional players with their own trading cards! Just ask our son, who took some to school to give to friends, and his entire class wanted one (we have to print some extras for him 😃).
